Remote Desktop Assistance: Macintosh

Installing this software requires several steps. Below each step is a picture demonstrating how to complete the step.

  1. Verify the computer account you are logged in as has administrative rights. Only administrative users can install software.
    1. Clicking the Apple icon at the top left of the screen, then select "System Preferences…"

    2. In the “System” group, double click on “Users & Groups”
    3. Verify you have enabled “Allow user to administer this computer”. Once you have verified this, you may close the window.
  2. Determine which version of Mac OS your computer is using.
    1. Clicking the Apple icon at the top left of the screen, then select "About This Mac"

    2. Directly under the large “Mac OS X” is the version information. In this example it is version 10.7
      . Once you have noted the version number, you may close the window.
  3. Download the software appropriate for your Mac OS X version
    • If you are using the Safari web browser: open the file your web browser just downloaded by clicking the download icon at the top right corner of the browser window. Click to open the file “rdmplus_desktop_mac_xxxx.dmg”
    • If you are using the Chrome web browser: open the file your web browser just downloaded by locating the downloaded file button at the bottom of the web browser window. Click on the down arrow on the right side of the file download button, then select “Open”
  4. Double click on “RDMPlusDesktop” to launch the installer.
  5. Click “Continue”
  6. Click “Continue”
  7. Click “Agree”
  8. Wait for the installer to examine your computer’s disks. When the installer is done, click on your computer’s hard drive, then click “Continue”

  9. Click “Install”
  10. Wait for the installer…
  11. Enter you computer login user name and password.
  12. Create the remote account. Use the account name “Dwain”. Dwain will email you a password to use. To paste the password right click in the password text box then select “Paste”, the normal keyboard shortcut will not work.
  13. Register your computer with Dwain. In the “Your name” field enter your name. In the email field paste in “Dwain.Blazej@OptiApp.com”
  14. Create the local account by clicking on the “Add account” icon.
  15. Create the local account. As before, use the account name “Dwain”, and the same password Dwain emailed you. To paste the password right click in the password text box then select “Paste”, the normal keyboard shortcut will not work.
  16. The account creation is complete. You can close this windown by clicking the red “X” in the top left of the window’s title bar.
  17. The installation is complete. Click the “Close” button.
